Groundhog Day

February 7, 2015

So, I wrote about this earlier this week but am only posting now. Bill Murray taught us years ago that February 2nd was a good day for second chances, and third chances, and fourth chances. okay you get the fucking idea already. But seeing how Groundhog day is a completely worthless, throwaway holiday, whereon school and the banks are open, and mail is delivered. Okay no big deal, right? But what if this silly movie example makes a point about our lives in general. It’s time for more people to care about second chances, giving them getting them, not being beyond the act of forgiveness, which of course depends on what someone did, but you get the point. Groundhog Day, the movie, which I’ve not even seen the entirety of, proves that we are more or less, masters of our own destinies. If there is someone you miss, tell them, if there is someone you hurt, and you really regret it, try and seek forgiveness, if you auditioned for something and didn’t get in, try it again. If you tried a certain food once and loathed it, try it again, if you hated a show after a single episode, try one more. You get the idea, but second chances are more important than ever at this crazy modern time that we live in.

The Voice

December 17, 2014

So the Voice finale was on last night, and every time one of these competition shows rolls around, I sometimes wonder about the American public’s taste in music, and the ultimate result was certainly not an exception to the rules. And no, it’s not because he’s country, I’ve kind of gotten over my loathing for country music, as deep-seated as it was. And no, I’m not opposed to him winning because he has the same name as me. Us Craigs gotta stick together after all. But on a show called the Voice, you are voting for who has the best Voice, and Craig Wayne Boyd surely doesn’t have a better voice than Damien, Matt McAndrew, and Chris Jamison, who all seem to have more mass appeal as chameleon artists, than Craig does sticking to one type of thing. But that is also not a problem. But what is strange is that Matt McAndrew topped the download charts on Itunes at the time of the finale last night. So apparently the most popular person on the show still can’t win. Oh well, all four of them got to drive off in brand new Nissans, and each of their new singles are phenomenal, and better than what I have come to expect from finalists on this show, as much as I have loved a few contestants here and there in the past.

So another year..

December 13, 2014

Another year of blogging, another year running by, not jogging. Another year living and breathing, another year of doing and seeing. Another year of highs and lows, another year with snow. Another birthday reached, another of mortality’s securities breached. New music, more love, more fun. Lessons, crises, more memories to laugh at. Hands held high we look to the future. Heads held high, we breathe in the now. Hearts set aright, set afire, living for tonight. Christmas is coming, the year is ending. And I can’t help but wonder about birthdays still, when we always have one more birthday than the number we use to denote it. Living through life, we laugh more. Loving fully, there’s always another open door. Remember those who came before, as we honor the living with presents, and our presence. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Hannakuh, Kwanzaa. Festivus for the Rest of us? Just be yourself whatever you celebrate this year. And may your hearts be moved, as you experience something true. Be not blue as you always strive to try something new. How’s that for a how do ya do?

Post Election Feelings

November 7, 2014

I hear a lot on the news about this candidate or that candidate having won their respective state elections this week, and everyone throwing down terms like bi-partisan in regard to certain elected folks, and don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to see certain seats being filled by candidates who really embrace this “working together,” thing. But here’s the deal. Fuck partisan bullshit. Fuck bi-partisanism even. The parties are the problem, so I suggest more people starting to use the phrase non-partisan, and truly grow outside of party lines, and then they will really have the most to throw down on the table. To the future, my friends.

Halloween

October 31, 2014

If you need to liven up your party, or you’re like me and just sitting on your ass this Halloween night, there is an amazing Halloween playlist on Spotify. Do yourselves a favor and listen to it. Also here’s another thought: Trick or treating? it should happen on November first instead. Why? Because all halloween costumes will be half off. Boom goes the dynamite!!

Also, this Halloween, be a Hallowinner!
